how do you treat Salvia Divinorum to create extracts?

Smoke shops sell extracts ranging from 5X to 100X. I have read that some kind of alcohol must be used to evaporate the leafs.

salvinorin can be extracted for the leaves of the Salvia divinorum plant by placing the leaves into ethyl alcohol (drinking alcohol, a.k.a. ethanol) for some time and separating the chemical from the alcohol. Evaporation, or distillation. Acetone can be used instead of ethanol.
