How to make a Mojito? is tonic water the same as sparkling water?

i have everything i need for my Mojitos. Fresh Mint, Fresh Limes, Rum, Sugar, and… at the store, i got tonic water. the recipe calls for sparking water. will the tonic water suffice? or should i get sparkling water?

Have you ever tasted tonic water? It tastes like soda strongly flavored with grapefruit peels. You need to use unflavored sparkling water, seltzer water, or club soda instead of tonic water to make a Mojito that won’t make you want to puke.

Tonic water isn’t sparkling water. Club soda is sparkling water. Don’t forget the triple sec.

Tonic water is very strong tasting and bitter. It won’t work for mojitos. Get club soda or unflavored seltzer.
