Tonic water and pregnant!? Okay- i just had a glass to avoid alcohol at dinner, now I am freaked out?

I had 1 8 0z glass at dinner, and now I’ve read tonic water is bad for pregnancy. Should I call my doc? Does anyone know about this?

There is a common myth out there that quinine (the chemical in tonic water) is an abortifacient. This is simply not true and it is an urban legend. Unfortunately this is a case of someone trying to be helpful with information and scaring the hell out of someone because they don’t know what the heck they are talking about. The book listed below is a bunch of pregnancy myths that are debunked because of all of this misinformation

There seems to be quite a bit of controversy as to whether tonic water is safe or not during pregnancy. My suggestion, since it is in question, would be to avoid it during pregnancy and stick to other forms of fluids that are known to be safe without question. I would call the doc just to be sure. You never know, therefor its better to be safe than sorry.
