How much Valerian Root should I take?

I’ve been having trouble with my sleep patterns lately, and I wanna get back on schedule. I try taking Tylenol PM, but I fall asleep for an hour or two and wake up wide awake.

I have a bottle of valerian Root that says to take 3 capsules before bedtime, but each capsule is about 500mg each. It says to take 3 to make a serving, which is 1,605mg. Does that sound right?

Thanks.

Whatever it says on the bottle should work for you. If you’re concerned that 3 might be too many, you can start with two and see if you feel weird, or they actually may make you sleepy. If not, then you can take the third.

Not that you would, but never take more than it says on the bottle. They will not help any more. That always go for over the counter medications like Tylenol or aspirin.

I’m glad the Tylenol PM didn’t work for you. All of those over the counter sleep aids are nothing but antihistamines, and they are so addictive! Save those for when you have a stuffed up nose!

I highly recommend the vitamin Melatonin. It’s sold everywhere (Walmart) they sell vitamins. 3Mg’s should knock you out. If not, it’s very safe to take 4 or 5Mg’s.

Don’t forget to try warm milk!! It really works, and you can add honey to make it delicious. Milk has the natural chemical Tryptophan. It’s soothing and should put you right to sleep. Don’t knock it till you try it! lol
If you continue to have problems sleeping, talk to your doctor. Ambien CR might be perfect for you. It not only helps you fall asleep, but it KEEPS you asleep.
If you feel you really have a problem with insomnia, don’t waste your time and money going to specialists and sleep clinics. See a psychiatrist. They’re the smartest doctors, (they go to school an extra 4 years,) and a psychiatrist WILL make you sleep. Guaranteed. Please keep that in mind.
Best of luck to you and pleasant dreams! ~_~
